Treats To Go

When the children help you make a fun snack during the day, let them make an extra batch and cut into bite-sized pieces. Share them with parents at the end of the day. Money Matters

If asking for your fee on payday is difficult for you, pit a pretty tin or decorated box on a kitchen counter or table near the door. Explain to parents that this is where they deposit their checks each week. Remove the container during the week, so parents know that when they see it, it’s time to play.

Pinch Hitters

As a convenience to the child care parents, line up emergency backup care before it’s needed. Ask a friend, neighbor, or relative if she would do an occasional day of child care in your home if you are ill or out of town. Be sure to follow your state guidelines for substitute care and explain the process in your parent-provider contact.

Parents will have a chance to ask questions, and you will avoid uncomfortable misunderstandings. Be sure all necessary forms are on file before a child starts care.
