Stone Soup

Choose a date for “stone Soup Day” and have each child bring a different vegetable and a clean one-quart mayonnaise jar with lid. Read the story Stone Soup by Marcia Brown (Charles Scribner & Sons, 1975: this version of the popular tale is a Caldecott Honor book). Make vegetable soup with the children’s help. Fill the jars and let children give them to their parents for their evening meal.
