Start a childcare lending library, complete with cards, so children can take favorite stories home to read with Mom and Dad. Require that a book be returned before another one goes home. If any of your childcare parents need help with childcare or personal problems, avoid the urge to counsel them. Instead, offer to call the information desk at your library for books on the topic. Ask the librarian to hold the books at the desk so the parents can pick them up after work.
Cut drinking straws in half and let children use them to drink the leftover milk out of cereal bowls. Even reluctant milk drinkers can’t resist a straw.
